The Family Grain Mill (FGM) is a highly versatile grain mill which is suitable for almost any grinding or milling task that you would need a grain mill for. Its grinding is 'infinitely' adjustable with a dial adjusting dial so it can make fine flour for baking bread, or it can mill fresh cracked grains for your morning cereal, for example corn grits, steel cut oats, or can even make a finer cereal if desired. Please note that for fine flour, you need to mill the flour in two passes.

The Family Grain Mill is much more than just a grain mill as all the components are modular meaning that you could start out with just the Hand Base and grain mill attachment for which will give you a high quality grain mill at the inexpensive price of $129.95. Later you could purchase the the motorized base and combine it with the grain mill attachment you already own for a terrific electric grain mill. As you desire more functionality, you may purchase, the grain flaker to make your own oats for cereal, the vegetable fruit processor attachment which can slice and shred vegetables, and also nuts, fruits, cheese, the meat grinder attachment, or the Wheat Grass/ Fruit/ Berry Press which can make your very own wheat grass. Rather than purchasing individual attachments later on, you can save money by purchasing multiple attachments with a motor base as your initial purchase, for example the motor base, grain mill attachment, and flaker.

For any combination purchase of a motor base and an attachment, you will also receive a free hand base, which can come in handy if for example you are milling grain bread, while your kids want to make some oats for breakfast using the hand base and flaker. The hand base clamps very quickly to a table or counter and will attach without marring the surface it is attached to. 
   The hand base has a hand crank for power without electricity. With this you can mill flour in a manual mode with relative ease as compared to other manual mills on the market. The 1.1" thick plywood hand base is made out of 17 layers of wood. This is how the base looks with the mill attached.

The Family Grain Mill is able to grind  these grains: oats, rye barley, spelt, flax, corn,  wheat, buckwheat, millet, coffee, kamut, quinoa and sesame seeds.

The Family Grain Mill can grind these beans: Northern Beans, Split Peas, Lentils
Black Beans, Kidney Beans. Coffee beans may be ground as well, but please note that they will stain the mill's plastic parts.

The Family Grain Mill can easily grind sesame seeds, but in grinding flax seeds, jamming usually occurs after grinding about 1/2 cup of seeds. Please note that if plugging or jamming occurs in the operation of the mill, you would be able to rather quickly disassemble it, and clean it, and assemble it back together. As with most mills, you never want to grind popcorn.

The Family Grain Mill can also grind many herbs, through it should be noted that in most cases they need to be pre-chopped, also only dried herbs may be ground. Some of the herbs that can be ground include Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, Thyme,  Coriander, Oregano, Ginseng and other herbs similar to these.

The Family Grain Mill can mill a cup of fine flour in 1 and a half minutes when functioning with the motor base, or 2 to 4 minutes when operated manually with the hand base. The Grain hopper has a 5 cup capacity. A few points of interest in comparing this mill to others is that the mill's steel burrs mill your grain without excessively heating up like with other mills, so your grain always stay in a safe temperature range during milling. Also the steel burrs when they do wear out after you have gotten long usage out of your Family Grain Mill can be replaced. Lastly some of the mills on the market create a fine dust everywhere during mill, not the family grain mill and unlike the vacuum cleaner level of noise that you hear with some other electric mills, the Family Grain Mill is relatively quiet. The motorized base is powered by a high quality Bosch Motor. The Family Grain Mill  has a lifetime limited warranty. This covers the hand base, mill and flaker, but not the steel burrs as eventually from use they will need replacing.
