Rolled oats are the most common form of oats sold and eaten. We sell two kinds of rolled oats, for both forms the grains are first heated and pressed flat with steel rollers to shorten cooking times. For regular rolled oats, the grain is just rolled. Quick Rolled Oats are sliced thin before rolling so they cook very quickly. These though are not as chewy as regular rolled oats.
Using 1 cup of grain to 2 cups of boiling water, rolled oats cook in 15-20 minutes while quick rolled oats take 3-5.
Rolled Oats are often used a hot breakfast cereal cookie ingredient, soup thickener, or for example to make apple crisp.
