DESCRIPTION "Japanese Traditional Clay Suribachi 6" diameter, small |

 |
A Japanese Suribachi is a earthenware mortar with a clay serrated interior surface. Almost every Japanese kitchen is equipped with a suribachi and surikogi (wooden pestle) for grinding seeds and herbs or pureeing. Suribachi are most widely popular for grinding sesame seeds and salt to make fresh gomashio (sesame salt).
Since this authentic earthenware suribachi is shipped from Japan in a stack, it will often have a dusty clay ring on the center. Simply scrub with hot water and douse with boiling water before use. You will love the true raw earthenware of these quality Japanese mortars.
Suribachi is made with Japanese natural clay earthenware, exterior glazed with porcelain. |
