What is a free radical?

In very simple terms, a free radical is an atom with an "unpaired electron".  This atom is called a free radical and is "very reactive" in that it tries to stablize itself by seeking out another electron by an otherwise another stable atom with "paired electrons".  This result in a "chain reaction" and that is when "excessive free radical activity" occurs.

Free radicals are utilized by the body to destroy and stop invading harmful bacteria and viruses.  If the free radicals are properly controlled, they are very important to and beneficial for a healthy body.

Excessive free radicals causes aging and degenerative diseases.

Studies and researches have concluded that free radicals cause degenerative diseases such as cancers, tumours, cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, arthritis, and others.  Free radicals also deplete the immune of the body.

Main causes of free radicals

Measure free radical activity

Preparing for and conducting the testing

1. Collect first morning urine in a container
2. Break vial containing test liquid with plastic protector to avoid cutting your yoursel
3. Transfer the urine sample from the container to the broken vial until full
4. Allow the liquid in the vial to settle and watch for a colour change within a few minutes
5. Compare the resultant colour of the liquid in the vial to the colour chart on the bag to find out the test result
