Lady-Comp and Pearly are the smart choice for natural birth control! Here's why...
Looking for natural birth control? Lady-Comp and Pearly provide enormous health benefits by maintaining natural body functions. This avoids side effects of other types of birth control; the pill, for instance, stops ovulation! (Menstruation that occurs while on the pill is the body's reaction to withdrawal.)
Lady-Comp and Pearly also help prevent "estrogen dominance", a leading contributor to many illnesses, including a documented 66% increased risk of breast cancer. In fact, some studies have concluded that estrogen should be included on the list of known cancer-causing carcinogens. Estrogen dominance may also play a roll in disrupting menstruation and/or ovulation. Do you have an irregular cycle with infrequent menstruation or ovulation? There is a very strong possibility that your problem is related to a hormone imbalance. To optimize Lady-Comp/Pearly's operation, any suspected hormone imbalance, such as an irregular cycle, should be before starting use of Lady-Comp or Pearly.
No woman needs to burden her health and her sex life with contraceptive measures every day of her menstrual cycle when there are just six days--the five days before ovulation and the day after--on which she can become pregnant. Lady-Comp has been programmed to identify the exact time when ovulation takes place. The reliability of a method of contraception is calculated according to the Pearl Index: if 100 women use a method of contraception for one year, and one of them becomes pregnant, it has a Pearl Index of 1.0. Lady-Comp and Pearly are computers, and their daily fertility displays correspond to a Pearl Index of 0.7.
Clinically Tested And Approved
Prof. Dr. G. Freundl is Senior Consultant at the Gynecological Clinic of the Municipal Hospital in Dusseldorf. Here's an excerpt from his test report: "Because the device takes a large number of particular situations into account, I believe that it is a very good and highly recommendable alternative for couples who feel at home with modern equipment and prefer to keep interference in their natural body functions to an absolute minimum."
Function: Once a day after waking up, place the sensor under your tongue for 30 seconds and take your temperature. Press the round button and look at the display: a green light means infertile; a red light means fertile. (There is also a yellow light which only appears when you first start to use Lady-Comp/Pearly or after long breaks.)
Easy to Use: When you take Lady-Comp out of its original packaging, the year, date and time have already been set correctly. You just have to enter the time that you want to be woken up and you are ready to begin the very next day. Lady-Comp fits into any handbag. It is just 200 g (7 oz) in weight, 3 cm (1¼ inch) thick and 14 cm (4½ inches) in diameter. It can be plugged into the wall, or powered by battery. Wall plugs for all international locations are available.
The Investment Pays Off! Once you have invested in Lady-Comp, that's it. There are no subsequent costs. What's more, this modern electronic device has a long life-span, thanks to its energy-saving technology. And there is no reason to stop using the device as long as contraception is necessary.

Planning a Pregnancy with Baby-Comp
Baby-Comp performs all the same tasks as Lady-Comp but has an added pregnancy planning level. This makes Baby-Comp a complete package allowing you to either plan a pregnancy or prevent one.
Baby-Comp and Infertility
How can a device like Baby-Comp help in cases of infertility? First and most importantly, it indicates the best possible date for conception when ovulation occurs. Baby-Comp does this by closely monitoring your cycle on a daily basis. You provide Baby-Comp with the information it requires by means of simple input. This includes daily (but time flexible) BBT measurements and menstruation dates. By analyzing this information, Baby-Comp is able to detect ovulation and calculate in advance your best opportunity for conceiving.
Baby-Comp makes it possible to recognize problems caused by hormone imbalance or irregular cycles. Should a cycle disturbance or irregularity exist, Baby-Comp will make this known through it's pattern of fertility indication; this can be confirmed by a print out. Temperature patterns can often assist in indicating more specific causes of any irregularity. (If possible, you should try to correct any known cycle irregularities prior to using Baby-Comp, so as to optimize its use.) If you are not sure if you ovulate regularly or do not know where in your cycle you ovulate, then you should use Baby-Comp right away to collect data about your cycle.
Am I Infertile? What Can I do? What if I have had a miscarriage in the past?
Childlessness in couples who want to have a family is most frequently not caused by complete infertility but rather by a reduced level of fertility, such as caused by a hormone imbalance. Couples only realize they have problems conceiving when they try to have a child. It is quite normal for a couple not to conceive in the first cycle; on average, a couple with healthy fertility requires three months to initiate pregnancy--even when pinpointing fertile days.
It is only if you have been unsuccessfully trying to get pregnant for more than six months that one can talk about "conception problems", and even then this is not considered infertility. True infertility only exists when one partner is sterile. Involuntary reproductive sterility is often associated with damage to the individuals reproductive cells caused while still a fetus in the womb, usually by toxins. Such toxins do not harm the mother but are very dangerous to the fetus and its proper development. Chemical products such as household cleaners and nail polish can harm a fetus' reproductive development. When mature, females may not produce the follicular activity which leads to the releasing of the egg, and males may not produce sperm cells. If you have been tested for these conditions and the test results were negative--in other words, you are fertile--then your difficulties in conceiving may be related to either a) not accurately pinpointing your day of ovulation; or b) a hormonal imbalance that does not allow you to ovulate or allow the egg to imbed or remain imbedded in the uterus.
Hormone imbalance can cause ovulation to cease and can also lead to miscarriage. An imbalance that leads to miscarriage is most often caused by a "luteul phase failure". The luteul phase of your cycle is the back half of the cycle, which extends from the time of ovulation to the time of menstruation. During this part of the cycle, progesterone generally increases and acts as a balancing hormone. During a pregnancy, sufficient levels of natural progesterone are required to maintain a pregnancy. If progesterone levels drop or are not maintained, a pregnancy may end in miscarriage.
FAQ's
What are Lady-Comp and Baby-Comp?
Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp is the first truly comprehensive professional medical system in the world for contraception and conception. It comprises all the services offered by a medical or family planning professional, including
- Investigation (taking your temperature and asking about menstruation dates),
- Collection and evaluation of data (the drawing up and analysis of a temperature graph and menstruation data), and
- Reliable diagnosis and/or prognosis (fertility level on individual days, establishment of a pregnancy).
The process of taking the temperature is intelligently controlled by the system to avoid possible errors (e.g. the incorrect positioning of the thermometer, too short reading time, etc.). As a result, optimum reliability can be guaranteed. All these applications are accomplished by a computer which is 3 cm high (1-1/4 inch), 14 cm in diameter (5-1/2 inch) and weighs just 200g (7 oz.) All you need to do is to press the button once a day for trouble-free use--no experience necessary!
This enables Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp to predict the fertile and infertile days in a woman's monthly cycle in a simple, rapid, and reliable manner (requiring on average 30 seconds per day), and without interfering in any way with the natural course of her body functions.
Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp allows women to employ natural family planning without any harmful physical interventions. It also dispenses with the need for bothersome intrusions in a couple's sex life.
It can be used for both
- Contraception (the intentional prevention of pregnancy); and
- Conception (it offers assistance when conception proves difficult, as well as in family planning).
The method is fundamentally based on the following proven medical findings:
- Women only ovulate once in each menstrual cycle. If, in rare cases, ovulation occurs twice or more times, this happens within the same 24 hours.
- After ovulation, the egg cell only retains its capacity to be fertilized for a maximum period of eighteen hours.
- After sexual intercourse has taken place the sperm only retains its ability to move and fertilise in the woman's body for 96 hours.
- The theory that sexual intercourse (SI) can stimulate ovulation has been proven false.
There is no logical reason for a woman to burden her health, or her sex life, with contraceptive measures for a full 28 days, when in fact it is only possible for her to become pregnant on 6 of these days.
Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp heralds the development of a method which narrows down this fertile period, then recognizes and indicates it in advance with virtually no effort on your part. All that Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp requires is regular temperature readings and M data (M = menstruation). The device can be used without previous experience and application errors can be practically ruled out.
Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp combines
- all the published results and findings of research on the subject of natural contraceptive methods;
- efficient, biomathematical calculation and computer forecasting methods; and
- the very latest electronic and computer technology and measuring systems.
The Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp evaluation programme has correctly analyzed approximately 1,000,000 cycles in vivo up to the present time.
This means that, for the first time, there is a convenient, time-saving, reliable, and purely natural solution to this problem in which the long-term health and well-being of the woman are considered and given priority. During the six fertile days per month, complementary chemical or mechanical barrier methods (condom, diaphragm, etc.) can be used.
2. Has Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp been investigated by medical experts?
The first scientific research project focusing on the reliability of microcomputers confirms that Lady-Comp and Baby-Comp effectively assure a score of 0.7 on the Pearl Index. The Pearl Index is used to evaluate the reliability of a means of contraception.
Dr. Dorothee M. Bachhofer wrote a dissertation on the "Reliability, Acceptance and Safety Provided by the Miniture Microcomputers, Lady-Comp and Baby-Comp" in contraception and natural family planning. Her work was followed by Prof. G. Fruendl M.D., Dusseldorf-Benrath Municipal Hospital in Germany. Over a period of more than 2 years, 686 users in Germany, Switzerland, and Mexico were questioned about their experience with the two devices.
This survey clearly revealed that Baby-Comp and Lady-Comp are the only devices in the world that are capable of assuring a constant Pearl Index of 0.7. This means that they are as safe as the pill.
Two procedures used to determine the moment of ovulation and the fertile days in the female cycle were compared as part of a research project carried out at the University of Sassari, Italy. Clinical methods (involving the use of ultrsound, establishing the presence of estrogen in the urine, and progesterone in the blood) were compared to the temperature method used by Baby-Comp's state of the art microcomputer. The study was conducted on women who were considered to be sterile for the past three to eight years. The two procedures produced almost identical results. One minor difference was however established: in two of the thirty cycles examined, Baby-Comp would not have clearly revealed the time of ovulation. All the other parameters were 100% the same. This is particularly significant when you consider that using Bady-Comp simply involves a brief temperature reading in the morning using an electronic sensor (high precision thermometer) and represents a rapid, clean, and simple solution.
3. Can any woman use Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp for family planning?
Yes, with a few minor exceptions, although Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp cannot narrow down the number of fertile days to the same number for all women.
For women with particularly stable cycles, the fertile days can be narrowed down to fewer days than for women who have very fluctuating cycles. However, there is no need for concern as the 28 day cycle really only exists in statistics. According to our evaluation of one million cycles to date, there are always some fluctuations; the question is to what extent. Differences of 2-3 days are the norm. Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp knows this and gives you reliable information.
Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp has been programmed in such a way that when there is any doubt, it shows "yellow" (i.e. the clear classification of this day as fertile or infertile is not, not yet, or no longer possible). The display "infertile" is always reliable, irrespective of external influences.
By using Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp, young girls are able to see when ovulation and the stabilization of the menstrual cycle take place. Generally it takes 1-3 years from the onset of menstruation for the biological clock in the brain (controlling the rythmic physiological activities like a central control system) to achieve sufficient maturity to establish the individual rhythms.
Incidentally, taking the pill at an early age interrupts the maturation process. Clinical research has proven that conception problems in later years are often correlated to taking the pill or other synthetic hormones at an early age and over a long period of time.
Regarding women in menopause: the fact that the central control system in the brain along with the performance of the ovaries gradually discontinue their activities can often result in ovulation occuring later during the menopause. Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp indicates any delay in ovulation at this time (or its failing to appear at all) by showing a flashing "yellow" display.
4. Before I start with Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp, is it necessary for me (or my doctor) to program the device or to feed in any personal data?
No. When you receive the device, the year, date, and time are already set. You will simply need to set the time that you wish to be awoken. The next morning, you will be woken up by Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp. All you need to do is
- press the centre button once,
- place the thermometer under your tongue for approx. 30 seconds until you hear an acoustic signal indicating the end of the reading, and if necessary
- press a button to indicate whether you are menstruating at the present time.
That's it. Less than a minute and you are finished. Everything that Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp needs to know about contraception is already programmed into the device. By evaluating and analyzing the temperature readings which you take every morning, it learns the specifics of your individual cycle. This means that the device is updating its knowledge of your cycle all the time, each day. This happens automatically; you don't need to do a thing. Additional functions (such as calling up "old" readings in the memory) are simple and easy to do.
5. What is the difference between Lady-Comp and Baby-Comp?
Lady-Comp is recommended for all women looking for a safe and reliable method of contraception. With the exception of the "special programming section to plan for a baby", both devices are identical. If desired, this extra programming can be added in at a later point in time, meaning that a Lady-Comp can be upgraded to a Baby-Comp.
Baby-Comp is equipped for universal family planning. "Universal" means that it can be used for both contraception (the intentional prevention of pregnancy) and conception (it offers assistance when conception proves difficult, as well as in family planning).
Fertility:

Both devices offer the possibility to enter up to seven previous consecutive cycles (first M day).
6. What is the source of the data used by Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp and how is it collected?
Every morning, at the set alarm time (if using the alarm), you are woken up by Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp. You take your Basal Body Temperature (or "waking temperature") immediately using the electronic sensor.
This is read directly by the computer via the sensor and used to calculate your fertility for the next 24 hrs. It is critical that the temperature be taken while you are still in bed, before moving or getting up, as it is a resting temeprature that is required, one that is not influenced by any physical activity.
"Does this mean that I still need to spend several minutes every morning taking my temperature?"
No. Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp uses a specially developed and patented electronic temperature reading sensor. It is very fast yet extraordinarily precise. This sensor reads the temperature within 30 seconds and is accurate to one one-hundredth of a degree. A discreet acoustic signal tells you when the reading has been completed.
That is all that you need to do with Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp. The whole process takes less than a minute.
7. How do I take my temperature?
"Is it possible to use Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp without being woken up every morning by the alarm, for example, taking your temperature when you wake up naturally?"
Yes, as long as the time of the temperature reading does not vary by more than six hours (plus or minus three hours from the previous days reading time). When the alarm is not used, LadyComp/Baby-Comp calculates the temperature reading time automatically on a daily basis. Using the previous day's reading time, which has been saved, it then indicates the time span visually by displaying an illuminated tiny thermometer during the temperature reading time span. If you wake up and see that the sensor symbol is illuminated, all you need to do is press the button and take your temperature. If you want to be absolutely certain that you will not sleep through the entire time span, you can set the alarm to control the temperature reading window.
"If the temperature reading needs to be so accurate, is there not a risk that I will make a mistake when taking my temperature especially when I am still half asleep in the morning? What if the thermometer slips or becomes incorrectly positioned in the mouth?"
The entire temperature reading process is "intelligently" controlled by Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp. This means that Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp questions the electronic thermometer several hundred times a second and expects a clearly defined rise in temperature. If the rise in temperature proceeds in a different way than is expected, e.g. because the thermometer has slipped out of position during the reading, this is immediately discovered by Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp.
If the sensor was not correctly positioned right at the beginning of the reading (e.g. on top of the tongue instead of underneath), this will also become apparent as it will be lower than the other readings stored in the memory. The same applies when the temperature reading is interrupted too soon (before the device indicates the actual body temperature and the acoustic signal confirms the end of the reading).
"Is it all right if I don't take the daily temperature reading once in a while, e.g. if I am sleeping away from home or because I want to wake up really late?"
Yes. As already mentioned, Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp can determine your level of fertility because it has worked out the course of your cycle by statistical calculations using the data which has already been entered. In the same way, it is also possible for Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp to fill in missing readings. Naturally, this is only possible if there are readings in the memory; at the beginning, you should take your temperature as regularly as possible. The more data that is stored, the better Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp will be able to predict your fertility level.
If there is not yet sufficient data in the memory to predict the infertile days with adequate security, Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp will always play it safe by displaying "red", or in case of doubt it will show "yellow" (learning area). It is therefore important not to omit a temperature reading without good reason.
"What happens if I have a slight cold, fever or have had a late night and had alcohol? This can result in a rise in temperature. Will this not also result in a false reading and therefore incorrect fertility display?"
No. As already explained, Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp calculates the future course of the cycle (and the corresponding fertility level) from the temperature readings that have already been entered. These calculations are made for each individual woman and comprise the typical highs and lows of the temperature curve before and after ovulation, as well as the typical normal fluctuations in body temperature.
"Abnormal fluctuations" in the body temperature, such as those caused by sickness, alcohol consumption, or lack of sleep, are different from "normal fluctuations".
Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp examines every temperature reading, checking to see if it is accurate or if, for example, one of the above mentioned influences has affected the reading. Upon evaluation, this temperature reading will either be taken into account for future evaluations or ignored.
A display "F" on the screen visually indicates a high temperature from fever or a faulty sensor.
8. Can I use LadyComp/Baby-Comp as a contraceptive device?
"How reliable is Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp in comparison with other methods of contraception?"
The reliability of a method of contraception is expressed in the medical profession by the Pearl Index. The Pearl Index indicates how many unwanted pregnancies occur in 100 users/year. A contraceptive pill with a Pearl Index of 1 means that if 100 women use this pill for contraception for one year, one woman will nevertheless get pregnant during this time.
The scientific research focusing on the reliability of microcomputers confirms that LadyComp/Baby-Comp effectively assure a score of 0.7 on the Pearl Index.
"What happens when I start using Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp? Does Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp need a sort of 'running-in time', during which I should continue to take the pill?"
No, absolutely not. When you take the pill or injection, you do not have a normal cycle since everything is "turned off" by the synthetic hormones. The bleeding that you have every 28 days when on the pill is caused by a withdrawal from the hormone. This is artificially triggered by removing the hormone and replacing it with a seven day period of sugar pills. This seven-day interval was introduced for psychological reasons to create the impression that you are having a normal cycle. The bleeding caused by the withdrawal of the hormone is in no way related to normal menstruation. In the same way, no ovulation, and therefore no rise in temperature, takes place when you take the pill or injection. Also of interest is the fact when ovulation is halted, the body's natural production of progesterone--a key balancing hormone--is interupted, leading to increased risk of cancer and other side effects such as PMS, migraine headaches, etc.
If you continue to take the pill, Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp is not able to take readings of the natural temperature fluctuations in your cycle. It is therefore not advisable for you to continue to take the pill when you begin using Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp.
At the beginning, Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp works using data history which has been programmed into the device and is applicable for all men and women (therefore also for you) and which therefore enables the device to make reliable forecasts. This data history is increasingly individualized during use. The individualized data makes it possible to narrow down the fertile days from one cycle to another with more and more accuracy.
The "infertile" or "green" light display is just as reliable on the first day of use as it is after two to three months. The difference is that at the beginning it appears less frequently.
"Can I use Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp immediately after stopping the pill or injections?"
Basically, yes. You must, however, reckon on your cycle taking some months, and sometimes even years, (particularly with injections or if you have been taking the pill for many years, especially if you started at a very young age) to recover from being "switched off" by hormones that were foreign to your body and to re-establish its natural rhythm. During this time it may well be that you will not ovulate at all, and menstruation may also be irregular or absent. Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp will determine your personal rhythm as it is at the current time and will continue to display "yellow" for days when you are possibly fertile or if it is still learning. In most cases where only the pill was used for shorter periods, this only lasts for one to three months.
The first bleeding after coming off the pill is not a real menstruation, but actually a so-called "withdrawal bleeding" (as during the seven-day interval when taking the pill) caused by the withdrawal from the hormones in the pill. In the case of most women, 2-4 more weeks are required for the biological clock in the brain to resume its activity, meaning that after four more weeks (a total of 6-8 weeks after stopping the pill) the first real menstruation will begin.
You can begin using Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp at any time. During the time between stopping the pill and the first real menstruation, the risk of an unwanted pregnancy is relatively low, as this first cycle is mostly (but not always) anovulatory (i.e. without ovulation). For safety reasons, you should use a barrier method for contraception during this time.
"Is any form of sexual intercourse out of the question on those days when Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp shows yellow or red?"
No; naturally you can enjoy close physical contact with your partner as long as there is not an ejaculation of semen in the vagina.
In addition, it is also possible to use another form of contraception during these days. The most suitable are the so-called barrier methods, such as a condom, methods which prevent the potentially fertilizing semen cells from entering the womb and the fallopian tubes. The reliability of additional barrier methods varies and depends much on their correct application; therefore, the level of experience that the user has with a method is important. Before using a complimentary method that you have never tried before, seek reliable information from a knowledgeable source or from literature.
"I am using the temperature method at the present time and have kept a record of temperature graphs. Is this also possible with Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp?"
Yes. You can recall previous temperature readings onto the display for up to 120 days. If, for any reason, you should want to have the readings in the form of a hardcopy, we can print out the data at any time to enter into your old graphs. (While possible, it is not required, as Lady-Comp/Baby-Comp functions perfectly well without this additional information.)

This method is time-consuming and requires training. The mucus method is not very reliable or adaptable as there are 4 different types of mucus and in the case of many women the mucus only appears when it is too late for contraception (i.e. after ovulation). It can be used as an aid to conception.
Sterilisation
The list is not complete without mentioning the sterilisation of men and women. In both cases this requires surgical intervention which normally cannot be reversed.
*Pearl Index
The reliability of a method of contraception is expressed in the medical profession by the Pearl Index. The Pearl Index indicates how many unwanted pregnancies occur in 100 user years while using a certain method or substance.
Our health is a precious possession. Good health and a fulfilling love life add to our happiness. Without one or the other our lives are simply not the same. However, the majority of women unwittingly harm their own health and long term happiness through the use of pharmaceutical birth controls which primarily involve synthetic hormones. This includes the pill, the three-month injections, and implants, which are seen as the most reliable methods. These products create an unnatural hormonal imbalance which leads to many other side effects, including cancer (up to a 66% risk increase!), ovarian cysts, decreased sex drive, no ovulation, thyroid dysfunction, infertility, headaches, depression, bone loss, high blood presure, and irritability. Many medical professionals today are warning their patients and recommending that they seek out other methods of birth control.
Note: Hormonal birth control products use the same synthetic hormones as HRT and ERT. Based on published FDA information, the current version of the pill has never been studied, and probably never will be!
