A bottle of 240 E-Gem Elite/400s ordered directly from Carlson Labs costs $95. An organic, macrobiotic diet would cost quadruple what I have to budget in a month. Believe me, I understand medical and Rx politics. It is unconscionable and infuriating! That does not, however, make it true that natural vitamin E (for example) and an organic diet are CHEAPER than buying the drugs that she so excruciatingly disfavors. What am I to do? Pay $4/mo for a 5mg generic statin, or hundreds that I simply don't have, to do it her way? The epitome of affluence, for me, would be to be able to shop exclusively at Whole Foods and then buy all my supplements directly from Carlson Labs. The money, though, simply isn't there to support that.I take that rotten pill every day now, and feel absolutely sick about it. I have insurance for RX, not for organic food and natural vitamins. I guess I know now, that I'll be dying young because I can't afford not to. Please, Dr. Rogers, don't be telling patients that using natural and whole remedies is cheaper than using pharmaceuticals. That is just not true! |

| I found The Cholesterol Hoax by Sherry A. Rogers, M.D., to be eye-opening, informative, and refreshing. After reading the book and then re-reading all of my highlighted areas, I was certain the statin drug that I was taking, lovastatin, was responsible for the increased liver enzyme report that I received after my recent blood work. Dr. Rogers also convinced me that there are natural supplements available to the general public that can address the cholesterol epidemic in our country. After taking copious notes from the book, I contacted my primary care physician and shared my concerns. I informed my doctor that I was taking an more active role in my wellness. I sent her a list of the tests that I requested she order for me, based on Dr. Roger's book, and also provided my doctor with a list of the supplements that I would like to begin taking. I requested that my doctor be my "teammate" in my health care. The Cholesterol Hoax helped me to regain the confidence to assert my authority over my own body and my wellness. Thank you, Dr. Rogers! | ||||
