They are perfect for making pickles or sauerkraut but many people use them as planters, even as beautiful outdoor ashtrays.
Covers and Lids : We sell wooden lids that do not sit on top of the pickling crocks . These fit inside and are used to cover and help submerge the contents. They are all made of poplar wood.
Upon request we can provide lids that will fit directly on top of the pickling crocks. There is a quite a bit of labor necessary to produce these decorative top covers and need one week to be prepared. The prices for these will be double the prices quoted for the lids that fit directly within the crocks. If interested, please note this within your order.
Other than purchasing a lid, many customers use a porcelain or stoneware plate to submerge the food being preserved and cover with a cloth to allow air exchange during the food preservation process
Please note that as the crocks are handmade so dimensions will always vary to a slight degree.
