In 1937 Albert
Szent-Gyorgyi, a professor at the University of Szeged in Hungary, was awarded
the Nobel Prize, which he received for discovering and "isolating" Vitamin C
(Ascorbic Acid.) He also discovered the Vitamin C crystals he isolated were less
bioavailable (less absorbed by the body) than the Vitamin C contained in a
crushed red sweet pepper extract. This crucial discovery was lost in the rush to
find more "isolated" vitamins and minerals over the following
years.
Andy Szalay also
attended the University of Szeged, graduating with a degree in Pharmacy in 1946.
Andy was consumed with the idea that if only he could produce vitamins and
minerals in a more bioavailable form like the extracts his hero, Albert
Szent-Gyorgyi had tested, people could truly get the superior supplementation
they were trying to achieve without taking large amounts of vitamins and
minerals.
Finally, after a
lifetime as a pharmacist and bench chemist, he was able, at 58 years old, to
devote all his waking hours to fulfilling his dream of developing a new form of
nutrients.
After many
failures, one by one he succeeded in developing Vitamin and Mineral nutrients
that have been shown to be different than "ordinary isolated" vitamins and
minerals supplements.
